LEAD CAMP COUNSELOR

Job Summary

The primary function of this position is to supervise both large and small groups of participants with the assistance of other counselors. Lead Camp Counselors work with youth ages 12-16. Must have the ability and desire to work with children, parents, volunteers and peers. Lead Camp Counselors will be charged with maintaining the safety, health, happiness, discipline, cleanliness, character, and skill development of all participants. Lead Camp Counselors will help participants carry out activities, promote participation, and be asked to teach and/or demonstrate the following: sports skills, arts and crafts, movements, educational concepts, musical concepts, water play, and various games indoors and outdoors. Overall, Lead Program Aides will supervise the activities of Program Aides and lead activities for all after school programs and children’s programs while ensuring the participants safety and well-being.

CAMP COUNSELOR

Job Summary

Executes planned activities for participants and youth which may include Day Camp Programs, after-school programs, and recreational classes; provides oversight of the game room as needed; make suggestions for planned recreational activities and play time; maintains program records, i.e. attendance records, parent sign in and out log; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of Kroc Center Property

SPORT TRAINER

Job Summary

The Sports Trainer will conduct one-on-one sports conditioning and skills training, group fitness training, and class-sized fitness instruction for clients as assigned by the Recreation Coordinator.  The activities of the members and guests they oversee will take place in all fitness or recreation spaces along with any meeting rooms.  Sports Trainers will also be responsible for conducting fitness equipment orientations, fitness assessments, fitness program design, and ensure the safe exercise and equipment operation of all facility members and guests when not currently engaged in a sports training appointment or class.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, nutrition, and health.

Knowledge of various sports and sports training;

Knowledge of the principles and practices particular to the department’s administration;

Knowledge of general office principles, practices and procedures;

Knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision and management;

Knowledge of basic mathematics and perform routine mathematical computations;

Ability to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures;

Ability to motivate, lead, and supervise clients;

Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines;

One (1) year of experience as a Sports Trainer, Fitness Trainer or experience in Sports Conditioning or Fitness.

Certifications:

 

Personal Trainer Certification and/or sports training certification or degree;

The following certifications will be acquired as directed by supervisor:

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Must be in good physical and mental health, capable of meeting the demands of the gymnasium and athletic field programs;

Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs;

Ability to meet attendance requirements;

Work is performed in an environment where there are minimal physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with dust, dirt, and the like.

Work is performed in a gymnasium environment where the noise level is usually loud.

PERSONAL TRAINER

Job Summary

 Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Fitness, Health and Fitness, Exercise and Fitness or other equivalent degree;

And

One (1) year of experience as a Personal Trainer or Fitness Instructor;

Or

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

SWIM INSTRUCTOR

Job Summary

Instruct aquatic private lesson to all ages and levels. Design instructional programs and demonstrate proper techniques and styling to all levels of participants.

Knowledge of current best practices in regard to the aquatics programs and keep current with new changes that will affect programs;

Knowledge of health and safety regulations as defined by the Health Department and The Salvation Army;

Ability to swim and extensive knowledge of swim programs;

Ability to deal comfortably with stressful situations, and follow emergency procedures;

Ability to multi-task, ability to follow instructions and complete tasks in a safe and effective manner.  Must be able to adhere to safe aquatic practices;

Ability to effectively provide leadership, counseling and education to youth, parents and staff;

Prior experience teaching swim lessons

Some College, or working towards a four year degree;

Two to Three (2-3) years of lifeguarding experience;

KROC ASSOCIATE

Job Summary
The Kroc Associate is a part-time position focused on member acquisition and experience in the areas of Membership, Recreation, and Fitness. These staff members are responsible for participating in the creation of a welcoming, helpful and safe environment where individuals and families can learn, grow and thrive.

 Education and Experience

* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* High School diploma or G.E.D.
-and-
* Experience in customer relations and leading fitness and recreational activities preferred.
-or-
* Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications

* Safe From Harm Certification
* Blood Borne Pathogens Certification
* Must have or be able to obtain CPR/First Aide/AED certification within first 30 days of employment.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions.

* Ability to meet attendance requirements.
* Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
* Ability to demonstrate good physical condition and effort associated with walking, running, standing, and moderate-to-
advanced weightlifting in a fitness center environment including the ability to meet the demands of the gymnasium and
athletic field programs.
* Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment.
Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent changes
basis.

GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

Job Summary

Instruct group fitness classes to all ages and levels. Design instructional programs and demonstrate proper techniques and styling to all levels of participants. Participate in employee training/meetings and other occasional Kroc Center Fitness Department programs.

Have the ability to work with children, parents, and staff in a capacity of leadership, counseling and education including but not limited to:

    1. Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children of all ages.
