PROGRAM AIDE – VIRTUAL LEARNING

Job Summary:

Provides care services for minors aged 4 years to 13 years. These services include but not limited to personal care, hygiene, learning and development activities and specialized programs; prepares and maintains records; maintains cleanliness and orderliness of childcare property.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Attends and participates in regularly scheduled in-service training sessions. 

Serves as a substitute teacher for other classes when needed

Assists with transporting children whenever needed.

Ensures the safety and protection of children at all times.

Collects, reviews, and reports monthly statistical data representing department services; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.

Ability to operate and generally maintain all office equipment. This would include, but is not limited to the copier, fax machine, and computers.

Have an essential proficiency with Windows & Microsoft Office, which includes Microsoft Word and Excel.

Have an essential proficiency with KidCheck and CCMS. Ability to interact professionally with all contact with the public and Salvation Army Officers and staff.

Abide by Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and have an acceptance of Salvation Army philosophy and mission

 

Education and Experience:

High School diploma; G.E.D. required, and 6 months experience providing adult supervision to children preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

 

Certifications/Licenses:

Valid State Driver’s License, CPR/First Aid Blood Borne Pathogens

 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to observe children and ensure their safety. Ability to lift, hold, and carry toddlers on a regular basis. Ability to swim. Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull light (less than 25lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment. Light mobility; duties are usually performed by a combination of standing, walking, and primarily sitting. Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

LIFEGUARD

Job Summary

Ensure that the aquatic operations are in compliance with established departmental policies and procedures. Aquatic Lifeguard is an hourly position, which may be designed full-time, part-time, or as-needed.  Under the direction and supervision of the Aquatics Manager and Lead Life Guards, the person in this position will observe swimmers, protect life, prevent accidents, enforce regulations, and do related work as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the principles and practices particular to the department’s administration.

Knowledge of general office principles, practices and procedures.

Ability to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

Ability to motivate a spirit of unity, loyalty, and helpfulness within and among staff.

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Must have the ability to swim with proficiency and endurance. Must successfully tread water with a brick for 5 minutes.

Have the ability to work with children, parents, and staff in a capacity of leadership, counseling and education including but not limited to:

    • Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to people of all ages.
    • Sensitivity to individual needs.
    • Ability to use appropriate positive discipline consistently.
    • Dependability.
    • Ability to handle security and crisis situations, calmly.

Must be able to lift and carry 40lbs.

Must be in good physical and mental health, capable of meeting the demands of the center’s swimming pools.

Must have a philosophy of education and child development, which is consistent with that of the Center and The Salvation Army.

Work is performed in an environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in temperature, pool chemicals as well as discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Certifications

Possession of current certificates in American Red Cross First Aid or First Aid For Public Safety Personnel (Title22) or above; CPR for the Professional Rescuer (CPR Pro), and Lifeguard Training. Equivalent training certificates may be accepted.

SPORT TRAINER

Job Summary

The Sports Trainer will conduct one-on-one sports conditioning and skills training, group fitness training, and class-sized fitness instruction for clients as assigned by the Recreation Coordinator.  The activities of the members and guests they oversee will take place in all fitness or recreation spaces along with any meeting rooms.  Sports Trainers will also be responsible for conducting fitness equipment orientations, fitness assessments, fitness program design, and ensure the safe exercise and equipment operation of all facility members and guests when not currently engaged in a sports training appointment or class.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, nutrition, and health.

Knowledge of various sports and sports training;

Knowledge of the principles and practices particular to the department’s administration;

Knowledge of general office principles, practices and procedures;

Knowledge of basic mathematics and perform routine mathematical computations;

Certifications:

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Must be in good physical and mental health, capable of meeting the demands of the gymnasium and athletic field programs;

Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs;

Ability to meet attendance requirements;

Work is performed in an environment where there are minimal physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with dust, dirt, and the like.

Work is performed in a gymnasium environment where the noise level is usually loud.

PERSONAL TRAINER

Job Summary
The Personal Trainer will conduct one-on-one fitness training, group fitness training, and class-sized fitness instruction for clients as assigned by the Fitness Manager. SWIM INSTRUCTOR

Job Summary

Instruct aquatic private lesson to all ages and levels. Design instructional programs and demonstrate proper techniques and styling to all levels of participants.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of current best practices in regard to the aquatics programs and keep current with new changes that will affect programs;

Knowledge of health and safety regulations as defined by the Health Department and The Salvation Army;

Ability to swim and extensive knowledge of swim programs;

Ability to deal comfortably with stressful situations, and follow emergency procedures;

Ability to multi-task, ability to follow instructions and complete tasks in a safe and effective manner.  Must be able to adhere to safe aquatic practices;

Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement.  Must be able to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

Ability to effectively provide leadership, counseling and education to youth, parents and staff;

Ability to supervise staff and participants with varying educational and cultural backgrounds;

Ability to teach private lessons, beginning through advanced, to a diverse group of individuals.

Prior experience teaching swim lessons

Some College, or working towards a four year degree;

Two to Three (2-3) years of lifeguarding experience;

KROC ASSOCIATE

Job Summary
The Kroc Associate is a part-time position focused on member acquisition and experience in the areas of Membership, Recreation, and Fitness. These staff members are responsible for participating in the creation of a welcoming, helpful and safe environment where individuals and families can learn, grow and thrive.

 Education and Experience

* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* High School diploma or G.E.D.
-and-
* Experience in customer relations and leading fitness and recreational activities preferred.
-or-
* Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Certifications

* Safe From Harm Certification
* Blood Borne Pathogens Certification
* Must have or be able to obtain CPR/First Aide/AED certification within first 30 days of employment.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions.

* Ability to meet attendance requirements.
* Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
* Ability to demonstrate good physical condition and effort associated with walking, running, standing, and moderate-to-
advanced weightlifting in a fitness center environment including the ability to meet the demands of the gymnasium and
athletic field programs.
* Work requires the ability to lift and carry and/or push/pull moderately heavy (25-50 lbs.) materials, supplies, and equipment.
Moderate mobility: duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent changes
basis.

GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

Job Summary

Instruct group fitness classes to all ages and levels. Design instructional programs and demonstrate proper techniques and styling to all levels of participants. Participate in employee training/meetings and other occasional Kroc Center Fitness Department programs.

Ability to teach group fitness classes, beginning through advanced, to a diverse group of individuals.

Ability to create programs geared to individual and group needs.

Ability to speak before large and small groups with poise and enthusiasm.

Good communication skills with individuals from children through adult.

Knowledge of safety precautions needed, and ability to ensure compliance/adherence by all class members.

Ability to relate well to members, nonmembers, youth, adults and staff.

Have the ability to work with children, parents, and staff in a capacity of leadership, counseling and education including but not limited to:
